AST-1 is the basic course for venturing in the backcountry.
The avalanche safety course, which lasts 2 days, offers the basics to understand the various avalanche problems and carry out a rescue

Details about the training:
Day 1 :
Most of the training will be spent in the classroom, you will need comfortable clothing on Saturday. You will also be going outside. Adequate clothing for exercises in the snow is therefore required. Approximately 5 hours will take place in class and 2 hours outside.

Day 2:
You will spend time in class and outdoors to familiarize yourself with search and rescue techniques and avalanche safety equipment. Approximately 3.5 hours will be held in class and 3.5 hours outside.

Good to know:
-You must plan a lunch for yourself on each day of training.
-All necessary learning material needed to follow the training will be handed out to students.
-The equipment such as a shovel, probes and beacon are supplied for the duration of the
training.
-At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion of the AST-1 training from
Ski Chic-Chocs which is accredited by the Canadian Avalanche Centre.

Please note:
A minimum of 10 participants is required for the training to take place. If this threshold is not reached 7 days before, the training will be canceled. You will be notified by email. You will then be able to reprogram your training during the same season according to our availabilities without any expenses or to make you reimburse the expenses of the training.
